If your Wix website is not generating leads, find where the enquiry process breaks before paying for more traffic or a redesign. The problem could be search visibility, an unclear service page, a difficult form or an enquiry that never reaches your inbox.

This guide helps service businesses decide what to fix first. If you would rather work through the problem with us, book a free 30-minute website consultation. Bring your URL and any traffic or enquiry figures you have.

Start With the Symptom

Compare relevant website visits, genuine enquiries and booked work. Exclude spam and your own tests wherever possible.

What you see

Investigate first

First action

Few relevant visitors

Search visibility and traffic sources

Review queries and landing pages

Visitors arrive but rarely enquire

Service clarity and contact process

Test a service page on your phone

Forms start but do not finish

Fields, errors and mobile usability

Complete a test submission

Submissions exist but nobody follows up

Notifications and enquiry handling

Check the recipient and automation

Enquiries rarely become suitable work

Targeting and qualification

Review location, scope and project fit

Ten enquiries that include eight job applications are not ten sales opportunities. Separate them before deciding whether your marketing works.

Four stages to diagnose a Wix website with few leads: relevant traffic, genuine enquiries, qualified leads and customers.

Follow the enquiry from relevant traffic through to a customer. Investigate the stage that is breaking down.

Calculate Your Website's Lead Rates

Enter your figures below, or try the example. For this simplified model, count at most one genuine enquiry per session. Follow the same group of enquiries through to its outcome; do not compare this month's sales with unrelated enquiries from another month.

Stage

Hypothetical count

Rate

Website sessions

1,000

Starting traffic

Genuine enquiries

20

2% of sessions

Qualified enquiries

10

50% of enquiries

Customers from those qualified enquiries

2

20% of qualified enquiries

These figures illustrate the calculation, not an industry benchmark. At 1,000 sessions, moving from a 2% to a 3% enquiry rate would mean ten more enquiries. Whether that is achievable, and whether they would be suitable, depends on the business.

1. Check Whether the Right People Reach Your Site

Total traffic can hide a relevance problem. A worldwide audience reading a general blog post is different from local customers visiting a service page.

For a Hamilton plumber, a visit from someone seeking a repair within the service area has a different purpose from a visit to an article about pipe sizes.

In Google Search Console's Performance report, filter to an important service page and review its queries, clicks and impressions. Are people looking for work you actually provide?

Tip: If a page gets only 30 relevant sessions a month, zero enquiries is a small sample. Test the contact process, but do not treat that result alone as proof that the whole site needs rebuilding.

When visibility is the issue, start with useful service content and relevant search coverage. Our local SEO guide explains that work.

2. Make Your Service and Next Step Clear

The first screen should explain what you do, who you serve and how to enquire. Here are illustrative alternatives for a cleaning company:

Vague copy

More useful copy

Evening cleaning for offices and shared workspaces

Request an office cleaning quote

The second column gives visitors information they can act on. Use specific claims only when they reflect your service.

Choose one main action for the page and repeat it where useful. Add a phone option when calling makes sense, without competing buttons for several unrelated offers.

3. Match the Landing Page to the Service

An office arranging recurring cleaning needs different information from a builder seeking post-construction cleaning. Important services deserve pages that explain their scope, show relevant proof and offer an appropriate next step.

Our Luma Energy web design project combines service pages, project information, rebate content and quote paths for commercial lighting work.

The point is the connection between the visitor's question and the action offered. Someone researching a lighting retrofit can explore relevant information and request a quote, rather than stopping at a company introduction.

4. Diagnose a Wix Form That Is Not Sending Enquiries

Start on the published site, using your phone. Submit a clearly labelled test, then check both the saved entry and the notification. A success message does not prove the email reached your team.

Example: the Form Works, but the Email Never Arrives

For a site using new Wix Forms:

  1. In the dashboard, open Forms & Submissions.

  2. Beside the relevant form, open More Actions → View submissions.

  3. Find your test entry using its submission time and details.

  4. Open Automations, find the notification automation for that form and edit its Send an email action.

  5. Check Recipients and confirm the correct person is selected. Review that person's spam or junk folder.

  6. Submit another test after saving the correction and confirm it arrives.

A useful Wix detail: Changing your Wix account email does not automatically update the recipient in your form automations. An old address can remain configured until you change it there.

Older Wix Forms have a separate Old Forms tab. Custom Velo forms may use a CMS collection or external system instead. Follow Wix's troubleshooting guidance for your form type.

Keep the initial enquiry manageable: name, a suitable contact method, service and a short description may be sufficient. Add a postal code when coverage matters; save detailed specifications for later.

5. Use Native Wix Features Before Commissioning Custom Tools

New Wix Forms support conditional rules and multiple pages. Showing different questions based on a selected service does not automatically require Velo.

Custom development becomes relevant when your requirements go beyond the available features, such as bespoke estimating calculations or an unsupported integration.

Luma Energy's quote interface illustrates a service-specific tool: visitors adjust project inputs, see an indicative estimate and can request a detailed quote.

Before adding a calculator, define the buying question it answers. A straightforward contact form may be sufficient. When custom logic is needed, our web development service covers that work.

6. Put Relevant Proof Near the Quote Request

Use evidence that helps visitors assess the work they need. A contractor's project example might show the building type, work completed and practical constraints. A consultant's example can explain the problem and deliverable.

Place relevant photos, reviews or project links beside the service and enquiry action. Readers should not need to search a separate gallery for comparable work.

Tip: Ask only for information you will use to respond or qualify the opportunity. A long form cannot compensate for missing service information.

7. Test the Mobile Experience and Loading Performance

Check the menu, phone link, form, consent banner and sticky buttons on a real phone. Look for clipped text, blocked fields and movement that makes controls hard to select.

Google's Core Web Vitals guidance gives these good-experience thresholds:

Metric

Measures

Good threshold

Largest Contentful Paint, LCP

Main content loading

2.5 seconds or less

Interaction to Next Paint, INP

Responsiveness

200 milliseconds or less

Cumulative Layout Shift, CLS

Unexpected movement

0.1 or less

The thresholds apply at the 75th percentile of page loads, assessed separately for mobile and desktop. Use field data where available alongside controlled tests.

Our PageSpeed Insights guide explains the difference. A high Lighthouse score does not establish that visitors understand the offer or can complete a form.

8. Measure Successful Enquiries, Not Just Clicks

A phone-link click does not prove a call connected. A Submit click does not prove a form was received.

Google documents generate_lead as a recommended Analytics event for a generated lead, such as a form enquiry. Trigger it around the successful outcome and check that one submission is not counted twice.

Keep an enquiry log or CRM with the service, source where known, qualification and outcome. Analytics may miss activity because of consent choices or blocked tracking, so compare reports with actual records.

Do You Need a Repair or a Full Redesign?

Problem

Sensible starting scope

One form or notification fails

Repair and test that workflow

One service page is unclear

Improve that page

Relevant services lack search visibility

Investigate SEO and content coverage

Navigation, content and mobile layouts all need work

Consider a coordinated redesign

Requirements exceed native features

Scope custom development

Ask an agency to connect its recommendation to the problem and explain how the work will be evaluated. If a rebuild is justified, our Hamilton website pricing guide explains what changes the scope and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Is My Wix Website Getting Traffic but No Leads?

Check whether visitors match your service, location and buying intent. Then test page clarity, mobile usability and the complete enquiry process. Traffic alone does not identify the cause.

Can I Improve Leads Without Rebuilding My Wix Website?

Yes. A repaired form, clearer service page or corrected notification workflow may address the immediate problem. A redesign makes more sense when issues extend across the site.

What Is a Good Enquiry Conversion Rate?

It depends on the service, traffic source and definition of a lead. Compare genuine, qualified enquiries across similar periods. The calculator's example figures are illustrative.

Should I Pay for SEO or Improve the Website First?

Fix a broken contact process first. Then establish whether you lack relevant visitors or struggle to convert them. Some businesses need both visibility and website improvements.
