SEO Case Study
Daisy Energy
Daisy Energy is a Canadian energy-efficiency company that specializes in lighting retrofits and LED upgrades. They came to CodeMasters to improve search visibility for high-intent keywords like ‘lighting retrofit’ and ‘LED lighting upgrade.’ Their site had authority but lacked optimized content and rankings for money terms.
Challenge
• Solid domain authority already in place but pages failed to rank for lighting retrofit, LED lighting upgrade, or solar light pole searches.
• Service pages carried thin copy, generic titles, and no structured data so Google could not see topical depth.
• Blog and news sections went months without updates leaving freshness signals cold.
• Meta descriptions lacked target keywords and read like placeholders.
• Internal links were sparse, causing crawl paths to stall and equity to pool on the homepage.
• Images were large and uncompressed, slowing down key pages.
• Google Business Profile had few recent posts or photos, limiting local visibility.
Solution
• Rewrote page titles, H1s, and meta descriptions around high-intent retrofit and upgrade keywords.
• Expanded each service page to 600+ words, added concise FAQs, and applied service schema to signal expertise.
• Launched a monthly blog calendar focused on retrofit cost, rebate guides, and LED myths, then linked every post back to its parent service page.
• Promoted each new article on LinkedIn and Facebook to drive early engagement and earn social signals.
• Ran a lean Google Ads campaign for core keywords during the first three months to keep qualified traffic flowing while rankings climbed.
• Compressed images, enabled lazy loading, and removed unused scripts to improve Largest Contentful Paint scores.
• Added breadcrumb and contextual links across older authority posts, funneling link equity toward the refreshed pages.
Organic clicks up 92 percent
Results
Organic traffic doubled
Organic clicks climbed from 2 733 to 5 669 in the first six months, a 107 percent lift. Impressions followed suit, rising 105 percent to reach 292 833. The upward slope on the traffic chart shows steady month-over-month growth as the refreshed pages gained momentum.

Rankings moved into the top five
Key money terms finally broke onto page one. “Lighting retrofit” advanced from position 18 to position 4, “LED lighting upgrade” jumped from position 22 to position 5, and “solar light poles” leapt from beyond page five into position 12. These gains put Daisy Energy in front of high-intent buyers right when they search.
